CPW staff, participants and friends, families, and supporters were out in full force at the Rally in the Valley last Friday in Pomona, NY. I/DD agencies throughout NY gathered at Boulders Stadium to push for New York State legislators to include increased pay and support for DSPs and Disability Services in the state budget. Thank you to everyone who came out to the rally, and thank you to NY State Senator Shelley Mayer for speaking up for our community.

We understand there are many organizations to choose from and support on #GivingTuesday, however, donating to Cerebral Palsy of Westchester will have a direct impact on the lives of children and adults living with developmental disabilities. Just ask Justin Piselli, featured in CPW’s 2024 Annual Appeal, who found his second home within the programs provided at CPW. Thank you for this recognition. We are proud to be part of such an important program in the community.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins celebrated the outstanding volunteers from Cerebral Palsy of Westchester, who have dedicated nearly 7 years to the success of Westchester County's Disability Awareness Program. This unique County program connects students — from elementary schools to graduate programs — with individuals who share what it's like to live with a disability. ? These honest and heartfelt conversations open students' minds, helping them better understand the daily challenges and experiences faced by individuals with disabilities. Over the past decade, this program has significantly impacted our community, largely thanks to these volunteers' courage and commitment. The volunteers were presented with certificates of recognition to honor their invaluable service.

Governor Kathy Hochul released her Executive Budget Proposal and the picture she paints for the future of nonprofits like ours is grim. If enacted, nonprofit providers of supports and services for New Yorkers with intellectual and developmental disabilities will receive a mere 1.5% cost of living increase, which is NOT ENOUGH. Please participate in the “One-Click” communication campaign and tell our State Officials to support the salaries for our DSP's and the services we provide for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. There is strength in numbers, so it is crucial that you participate. https://lnkd.in/dq9zTQen Thank you for your support!
