The UNSW Kirby Institute's remote testing program has won the Community Champion award at the Universities Australia 2024 Shaping Australia Awards! ?? The program, in partnership with Flinders University, has been instrumental in reducing the spread of sexually transmitted infections and COVID-19 in remote communities, and since launch has led to reductions in pelvic inflammatory disease and preterm births among young First Nations women. The program, led by Professor Rebecca Guy, operates in over 100 remote communities and helps prevent serious complications like infertility.
