We used this opportunity to share about the services our Victim Advocates provide through our Victim Assistance Program and to connect with local partners on how to better support and empower survivors of sexual violence in our community in a culturally responsive manner. ?? In recognition of her 40+ years of social service experience, Congressman Jim Costa awarded Margarita with the Lois Haight Award of Excellence and Innovation as part of the Congressional Crime Survivors and Justice Caucus last week. Here's what Margarita had to say about the honor: ??? "Growing up in a monolingual Spanish speaking family who was often fearful of seeking help, I was determined to create a space where all could feel safe and heard. With a dedicated team at Centro La Familia, we strive daily to empower survivors, particularly those from underserved communities, from a culturally sensitive lens. We are guided by the principle: ‘we are who we serve,’ advocating for those silenced by fear and unawareness of their rights. I am deeply honored by this recognition from Congressman Costa." ?? ?? Thank you to everyone who made our 2nd Annual Family Strengthening Parent Conference a success! We were grateful to host the event at the Parc Grove Commons Clubhouse with the support of our partners Resiliency Center of Fresno, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention (FCCAP), Calviva Health and many more organizations and community members throughout Fresno County. ???????? We host this event yearly in April during Child Abuse Prevention Month to help raise awareness about how we can work together to nurture our families and provide a happy, healthy home for our children. Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who joined us in recognizing the importance of this event, and we hope to see you all next year in April 2025 for the 3rd Annual Parent Conference!
