  • Three years into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it is clear that Germany’s previous approach—prioritising economic ties over democratic and security concerns—has failed. A Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) offers an alternative strategy, focusing on human security, equality, and long-term peace. Russia’s anti-feminist policies are not just a domestic tool of repression—they shape its foreign relations and undermine democratic values. Yet, past German policies sidelined feminist civil society voices and failed to address these dynamics. To recalibrate its approach, Germany must: ?? Engage with and support feminist civil society in Russia and exile ?? Challenge Russia’s anti-feminist influence in multilateral settings ?? Explore new avenues for nuclear disarmament as part of long-term security policy A feminist perspective moves beyond reactive strategies—it prioritises human security, democracy, and sustainable peace. ?? • While individual members have acknowledged the threat of AI-driven gendered disinformation, the Commission’s current agenda?fails to address this issue in a meaningful way. Gendered disinformation—especially when amplified by algorithms—poses a serious risk to?democracy, gender equality, and human rights. Targeted campaigns distort public opinion, silence marginalised voices, and undermine trust in institutions. To effectively combat this, the EU must: ?? Integrate feminist perspectives?into policy responses ?? Enforce transparency and accountability?for tech platforms ?? Strengthen digital regulation, rather than weaken it under industry pressure This is a critical moment for the EU to take action. • For over a week, the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy (CFFP) and its two co-founders have been subjected to relentless online violence, including numerous legally significant false accusations. This has fueled a targeted, gendered disinformation campaign against them, originating from an Instagram account with a documented history of disinformation campaigns aimed specifically at women, inciting its followers to direct hostility toward its victims. Accusations from former Advisory Council members have further fueled this campaign. In particular, one former Advisory Council member posted two serious public allegations on LinkedIn: “Silencing” and “Mistreatment.” Declining to comply with another's relentless request does not constitute silencing; rather, it reflects an individual's or organization’s right to independent decision-making, which in this case aligns with the leadership’s duty to the organization. At no point have CFFP’s leaders requested or implied that any Advisory Council member is restricted from expressing their opinion on any issue, including the situation in Gaza. At the same time, it is the right of any organization to articulate its own positions and decide which areas to focus on, which everyone is free to agree or disagree with. However, we will never accept being forced into a position or action and would never force others into one. For the past year, CFFP has condemned violence toward civilians and upheld its core belief that empathy is not a zero-sum game. Likewise, no mistreatment has occurred; the leaders of CFFP have consistently acted within their roles and responsibilities with integrity and respect, as substantiated by documented evidence. Since the press conference last Monday in Berlin on decriminalizing abortion and preventing femicides in Germany, which CFFP co-organised, the volume of false accusations has spiraled out of control, with new allegations surfacing continuously. None of these accusations are true, nor would any of them stand up in a court of law. Evidence is well documented. We call on everyone to understand the mechanisms of social division through disinformation on social media - the algorithms create echo chambers in which false information hardly ever meets with opposition. This reinforces one-sided opinions and a distorted truth becomes the norm. False information often spreads faster than it can be corrected. The ongoing false statements, defamation, and disinformation campaign have not only severely impacted CFFP as an organization but also the well-being of those affected and their families.

????Behind the Scenes with CFFP!?I’m Stevy, the Communication Manager, and I’m excited to share a recap of the past few weeks, during which I accompanied our CEO,?Kristina Lunz, on our journey to the US. So much of our feminist work happens behind the curtains, and I’m excited to share a few highlights with you. From our impactful event at the UN General Assembly, where we championed women’s rights, to our engaging discussions at the Feminist Futures Festival advocating for equitable funding for feminist initiatives, each moment has been filled with purpose. At the Goalkeepers Gala, we exchanged ideas on global food security, contributing to sustainable development goals. Lastly in Boston, Kristina’s book presentation resonated deeply with students, highlighting the importance of these conversations for future generations. Enjoyed the insights into our work? Sign up for our newsletter (???in Comments) to receive more information about our projects and what happens behind the scenes at CFFP! Together for a feminist future! ????

  • ?????????In the world of politics, women are often met with unique challenges, especially when they speak out on issues like gender equality. One powerful example is Manuela d'ávila, a Brazilian journalist, writer, and politician who has dedicated over two decades to the fight for progressive causes. However, her journey has been marked by severe online harassment and gendered disinformation campaigns that sought to undermine her influence and reputation. As the vice-presidential candidate in Brazil’s 2018 election, and later a mayoral candidate in 2020, d’ávila faced relentless attacks—both digital and physical—targeting her and even her young daughter. These attacks reflect a broader pattern of violence that many women in politics endure, designed to silence them and drive them out of the political arena. Despite stepping back from electoral politics in 2022, Manuela continues to be a voice for change, urging society to address the root causes of gender-based violence in politics. We must stand up for our women leaders. ?????? Together with Microsoft, CFFP is implementing a project that promotes the integration of feminist perspectives into the discourse and policy development on disinformation. Stay tuned for more insights as our social media campaign develops! ???? #GenderedDisinformation #WomenInPolitics #ManuelaDAvila #EndGenderViolence
