Today, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Central Union Mission, and I am truly in awe. As the oldest private social service agency in Washington, D.C., their faith-based mission is one that deeply resonates with the heart of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas. Their unwavering commitment to Christ-centered transformation, workforce development, addiction recovery, and holistic care is both inspiring and humbling. What stood out most was the spirit of servant leadership that fills the space, from their staff to their services, every aspect reflects compassion, purpose, and dedication to community. A heartfelt thank you to Senior Director of Social Work Shirley Johnson, whose clinical expertise, spiritual leadership, and 30+ years of social work service are a testament to excellence. And a special thank you to Crystal Baker-Gill for taking the time to walk me through the impactful work being done every day. Thank you for the warm welcome, and for letting me witness what transformative ministry truly looks like in action.
