Unlike whiskey or rum, vodka is rarely sipped straight. To the average drinker—who is almost always mixing vodka with something else—the spirit is defined by its neutrality, and brands largely taste interchangeable. And unlike trendy tequila or sought-after bourbon, vodka doesn’t enjoy the same cultural cachet. Why, then, would customers choose to spend a premium on a craft vodka when less expensive choices abound? In a cover story for the latest issue of the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA)'s Craft Spirits Magazine, I report on what's working in the world small-batch vodka, with examples from Journeyman Distillery, Central Standard Craft Distillery, High Bank Distillery Co, and Stateside Brands. Whether it’s using local ingredients, branding the vodka to reflect its geography, or simply being a small business that drinkers can feel good about supporting, small distillers have found that vodka is a blank canvas onto which they must write their stories.

Wisconsin Bourbon Bros named our Cabin Strength Bourbon as a finalist for Wisconsin's Best Whiskey! Thanks for the recognition. Check out their review here: https://lnkd.in/gBSgTNGE. Our bourbons are placed in new American Oak barrels and aged between 4 and 6 years. In the case of Cabin Strength, we have taken it an additional step...we re-barrel the bourbon for a second time for an additional year.
