??? ?New, Innovative Housing in #DTLA! I was thrilled to speak on behalf of the Central City Association of Los Angeles during yesterday's grand opening of #LIVDTLA — a project that brings 227 new, high-quality micro-units to South Park, including 25 units for extremely low-income households. Creative housing solutions like this are exactly what we need to expand local housing affordability and strengthen our urban core. Huge congratulations to Housing Diversity Corporation, Arctaris Impact Investors, Century Housing, United Way, STS Construction Services, Steinberg Hart, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, L.A. Care Health Plan, HealthNet, PNC and all the partners who made this vision a reality. Downtown is proud to lead the way on solutions that alleviate our housing and homelessness crises, while also showcasing what a dynamic, exciting place #DTLA is to live. #LIVDTLA #HousingSolutions #UrbanLiving #AffordableHousing

California State Assembly Member Mark Gonzalez’s community swearing in was equal parts celebration and rallying cry, bringing together leaders across the 54th?assembly district and beyond.? I was proud to be among the speakers attesting to the new Assemblymember’s leadership and coalition-building, alongside Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, State Senator Maria Elena Durazo, former Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, former Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez and others. Hosted in Downtown at the Japanese American National Museum, the event featured dynamic performances from 3 youth groups: the Hwarang Youth Foundation Drum Team, Eastwind Foundation Lion Dancers and Roosevelt High School Mariachi Performers. In conjunction with the celebration of #LunarNewYear, it was the type of energizing, focused re-beginning we need as we face the challenges ahead for our region.?

Today, I am honored to have been unanimously confirmed by the Los Angeles City Council and sworn in as a City Commissioner for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). I’m thankful to Mayor Karen Bass for this appointment to serve the City of Los Angeles on this critical board. Addressing the critical challenges our communities face has been a long-term commitment of mine. I’m excited to get to work with the council and my colleagues on the board. Together, we can come together with change, needed data and benefits to improve the lives of those affected.
