Congratulations to our Chief Operating Officer, Bob Donnelly.
Congratulations to Fresno State alumni Robert Donnelly and Michelle Paul who capped an inspiring experience with the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation at a recent graduation event in Fresno. As part of Class 53, they joined 22 other emerging, mid-career industry leaders that began the program in October 2023. Over the course of 17 months, the group met other leaders and professionals from across the state and nation (as well as a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos) to enhance their skills in leadership, communication, motivation, critical thinking, change management and emotional intelligence. Paul is a marketing and outreach vice president for AgWest Farm Credit (Rocklin), and Donnelly is the chief operating office for the CENTRAL CALIFORNIA ALMOND GROWERS ASSOCIATION (Fresno) - the world’s largest almond hulling and shelling cooperative. Dr. Athanasios Alexandrou, Industrial Technology Department faculty, serves as a liaison for the program that is also tied to Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly SLO and UC Davis. Lesa Eidman, another California State University, Fresno alumna, helped oversee the event as the new president of CALF. The third-generation agriculturist has worked with producers and associations for over 20 years after she earned an agricultural business and management bachelor’s degree (and a master’s degree in agricultural and resource economics from UC Davis). Since 2015, she has worked for Superior Farms – North America’s top processor and marketer of lamb – as a director of producer resources and sustainability and VP of sales. From 2003 to 2015, she served as the executive director of the CALIFORNIA WOOL GROWERS ASSOCIATION INC and California Pork Producers Association. She now looks forward to leading the nationally-respected program that started in 1970, and has helped +1,400 CALP fellows shape the future of their communities and the nation’s leading agricultural state. Have you ever wondered about the steps it takes to harvest almond orchards? After you shake the trees, the almonds lay on the orchard floor for 3-10 days, depending on the weather. Once the almonds dry to the ideal moisture, (hulls 15% and meats 4%), the next step is to condition the almonds into windrows.
