关于我们
The Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) is a community based organization that seeks to foster the comprehensive development of the Latino community in the Washington metropolitan region. CARECEN was founded in 1981 to protect the rights of refugees arriving from conflict in Central America and to help ease their transition by providing legal services. Today our programs provide direct services in immigration, housing and citizenship while also promoting empowerment, human rights advocacy and civic participation for Latinos.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, board members, and guests who joined us in this special celebration! It was beautiful to see the far-reaching community of supporters we have; we truly couldn't do this important work without you. This year marks 43 years of dedicated service to the DC area’s immigrant community. We were honored to hear from our Legal Director, who shared her experiences as a Haitian American, along with Amaya, who spoke about her journey from unaccompanied minor to paralegal, and Gregorio Amundarain who gave testimony about his experience as a Venezuelan immigrant in DC, including the recent discrimination he faced and his experience as a participant in CARECEN' legal program. Together, we fight against harmful narratives and celebrate the resilience of our immigrant community. Congratulations to the D.C. Access to Justice Commission & Fernando Lemos, this year's recipients of the Community Empowerment Award and Saúl Solórzano Justice Award! A special thanks to Alejandro Negron for serving as our MC for the fifth time and Planet Word & Immigrant Food for providing a beautiful venue and delicious food! Swipe through to see photos! ??
