Partners, Pathways, Pipelines! Great connections were made today between our industry partners and high school seniors that are ready to enter the workforce.
Many high school seniors are focused on graduation and celebration but not these outstanding students from Russell County, Phenix City and Smiths Station. Central AlabamaWorks! pulled together industry partners from Healthcare, Manufacturing, Public Safety and IT to talk about immediate job opportunities with these soon to graduate, ready to work seniors. We were quite impressed with the in-depth conversations, professional dress and excitement. Thank you to our industry partners, school career coaches and Chattahoochee Valley Community College for working alongside us to help make this event happen. We also appreciate the support of the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce and City of Phenix City’s Economic Development Department.
Thank you Hyundai Motor Manufacturing, Tootris and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce for your creative and dedicated efforts to benefiting those in your workforce and to increasing the labor force participation rate in Region 5!
What an exciting day last Friday when Hyundai Motor Manufacturing announced its Child Care benefits program in partnership with TOOTRiS! Addressing childcare challenges is a big step in increasing the labor force participation rate in Alabama. This young man’s story of trying to secure childcare for his twin daughters was relatable and is felt daily by so many families. I was honored to represent Central AlabamaWorks! at such a monumental event. Being creative and working collaboratively is the only way for us to assist those with barriers to entering the workforce.
It was a great day in Auburn for our Assistant Director, Sabrina Wood, and Liaison, Sarah Mills, to participate in the groundbreaking of Coca Cola United’s new facility. The dedication to their team is phenomenal and the success that their 75 employees will experience is exciting. Here’s to more years of partnership with our friends at Coca Cola!
We could not be more excited about the connections made at Career Discovery 2024! Stay tuned for updates as we dive into and share the feedback we received from schools, students, industry partners and volunteers. It was a great day and a true example of “it takes a village”!
Career Discovery 2024 is in the books! What a great event with outstanding industry partners from Manufacturing, Healthcare, IT, Public Service, Hospitality, Construction/Utilities and Transportation/Distribution/Logistics sectors. Hands-on career exploration leads to engaging conversations about pathways to high demand careers. Over 600 high school seniors discovered the many options available to them as they plan to enter the workforce. A special thank you to the many partners that joined us and made Career Discovery a success!
A special thank you to the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and Mobile Chamber for allowing us to participate in thought provoking conversations with the Mobile Area Workforce Alliance and Mobile area educators. We also enjoyed visiting the Port of Mobile (Alabama's Port), APM Terminals, and Alabama Logistics Park. With the Inland Intermodal Port planned for operation in 2025, developing a workforce to fill the high wage, in demand logistics jobs starts now!
