Our next Employee Spotlight is Cyber Engineer Andrew Mayiras. Andrew joined the Centil team at the beginning of this year adding to the talented team supporting the Boulder TAP Lab. In his role Andrew is a Defensive Cyber Operator (DCO) and Information System Security Officer (ISSO). He performs daily network and system audits, develops cybersecurity documentation, and supports Authority to Operate (ATO) package development and updates. Andrew adds that it's a “dynamic role with different challenges day to day.” Andrew began his career with the United States Air Force in 2017 in defensive cyber operations. After separating from the Air Force, Andrew supported the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Mission Data Processing Application Framework (MDPAF) program as a Cybersecurity Engineer for another defense contractor. When looking for a new role, Andrew shares that Centil stood out for its values, culture, and emphasis on work / life balance. “After my first interview I could tell right off the bat that I really wanted to work here.” Andrew spends time after work pursuing his hobbies, including volleyball and photography, and earning his degree in Cybersecurity. He plays both sand and court volleyball but prefers two player sand volleyball. This winter Andrew is looking forward to skiing and snowboarding at his favorite resort, Copper Mountain. This week’s Employee Spotlight is Systems Engineer, Patrick Klein. Patrick joined the Centil team after retiring from the United States Space Force. Patrick served 22 years across the United States Air Force and Space Force supporting the MILSATCOM and Missile Warning programs as well as the Space Operations Center. He shares that the highlight of his time in the Space Force was leading junior enlisted service members and junior officers and sharing his knowledge about career opportunities in space. Patrick contributes his years of experience to the FORGE Command and Control (FC2) prototype project as a Systems Engineer. On FC2 Patrick provides operational context in crafting demo and test procedures for the team, ensuring that the product will meet the needs of the end user. “As a former operator myself I can really put in my two cents as to what I believe the system should do.” Patrick adds that while he’s operated many systems of record, he is new to the development process and excited for the opportunity to contribute to a system at the ground level. Patrick spends most of his time outside of work traveling as much as possible. He spent 5 weeks road tripping and exploring Africa following his retirement from the military. While home in Colorado he enjoys backpacking, camping, and cooking. Patrick is looking forward to his next adventure, a trip to Mexico City to celebrate Day of the Dead!
