Jack Fowler wraps up Philanthropy Daily's series, "Working for Mercy: Human Charity, Divinely Inspired," which highlights nonprofits who are answering Christ's call to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, and bury the dead. Thank you to Christ in the City, Slavic Gospel Association, Water Mission, Fort Smith Crisis Intervention Center, Philly House (Previously Sunday Breakfast), Society of St. Vincent de Paul USA, Sudan Relief Fund, and Prison Fellowship for working for mercy and inspiring us all to "go and do likewise."
关于我们
The Center for Civil Society’s mission is to strengthen civil society by conducting programs and activities that increase the knowledge and efficacy of America’s nonprofit organizations, charitable foundations, and individual donors. Our vision is to renew the American culture of generosity, fellowship, and liberty, and restore our once healthy society, so all can fully realize the joy of vibrant communities across America. Achieving this renewal will require the effective leadership of dynamic and thriving local associations and nonprofits. Launched in 2021 as a project of AmPhil, the Center for Civil Society became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2024.

Thanks to all who gathered for two days of fruitful, thought-provoking discussion and debate at this year’s Givers, Doers, & Thinkers Conference! We came away with a clearer picture of the state of higher ed in this nature, the need for reform, and the best means of meeting that need. Most importantly, we’re convinced that yes, higher education can be saved! We must now take what we’ve learned over the past two days and put it into action on campus.

Yesterday afternoon, we rounded out a day of learning with discussions of free speech on campus, how to redeem campuses in the eyes of a skeptical public, and the role donors must play in higher ed reform. Thanks to Cherise Trump, Carl Neuss, Rebecca Richards, Panayiotis Kanelos, Jenna Robinson, Ryan Streeter, Josh Dunn, Fred Clark, Carol Wallace, and berni neal for sharing their wisdom and guidance. And thanks, once again, to Pete Peterson and the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy for hosting this conference and facilitating such an important discussion!

These experts know the ingredients necessary for successful education reform, and they’ve just shared the recipe! Nancy Padberg, MBA, Bruno Manno, Shaka Mitchell, and Christy Wolfe made it clear how important K-12 reform is to the restoration of America's colleges and universities, and how we can apply the lessons we’ve learned in grade school in the university classroom. Only at the Givers, Doers, & Thinkers Conference!

Trustees have an unrivaled power to effect reform in universities that have fallen prey to ideological rot. Bauerlein Mark laid out a roadmap for how trustees can seize that power and reclaim campuses run amok!?

Hanna Skandera kicked off this year's Givers, Doers, and Thinkers Conference at Pepperdine with an excellent walk-through of the importance of K-12 education in preparing proud, informed American citizens. Her update on the state of the school choice movement highlighted the challenges facing higher ed reform, as well as the massive opportunity for positive change.
