This webinar features Mona Hanna, MD, MPH, FAAP, whose research uncovered the water crisis in Flint, MI, and H. Luke Shaefer, PhD, co-author of the book The Injustice of Place: Uncovering the Legacy of Poverty in America. They are co-directors of Rx Kids, an innovative effort to address child poverty and improve health equity. Access to safe green space has many positive effects on early childhood development and lifelong health. However, due to historic and present-day policy decisions, neighborhoods populated predominantly by people of color often have less green space. By finding creative ways to add green space in these neighborhoods and prioritizing input and participation from community members, policymakers can better support the healthy development of children.
