Selfridge Tour Our Public Service and Law & Justice Pathways sophomores participated in their grade-level guaranteed industry tour experience at Selfridge. They explored the fire station, medical building, and security forces, and even got an up-close look at a KC-135 (a military aerial refueling aircraft). Throughout the visit, they learned about a variety of career opportunities available to enlisted personnel, veterans, and civilians.??#AcademiesofCenterLine #Experience #HHSacademy

Staff Sergeant Robert Coe of the Army National Guard visited Wolfe Middle' School's Academy Explorer 8 class to provide an insightful discussion on the Public Service Pathway. During his visit, SSG Coe introduced students to the various branches of the military before sharing his diverse career journey, which has included roles as a welder, machinist, social worker, and recruiter—all in service to our country. He highlighted the numerous benefits offered by the National Guard, including educational opportunities available at no cost to members. Emerge, a company dedicated to shaping the future workforce, recently visited Wolfe Middle School's Academy Explorer classes to deliver an immersive career exploration experience. Utilizing state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets, students (and teachers) engaged in interactive simulations of over 30 distinct career paths. Highlights included a simulation as a solar technician, where participants virtually installed a solar panel on a home; a role as a surgical technologist assisting with a knee surgery; and an experience as a CDL truck driver preparing for a trucking route. This innovative initiative not only broadened participants' career perspectives but also ignited enthusiasm for the diverse opportunities awaiting them in the future workforce. #DiscoverExploreExperience

Mrs. Dugan's and Mrs. Wheeler's fourth grade students participated in the ASK (Authors, Specialists, and Knowledge) Program through the MISD. Students read?The Mud Hole?and?The Snow Car?by Michigan author Arthur Brood.?The novels focused on?the early days of the automobile in Michigan and the mischief brothers, Henry and Robert, found along the way. The students loved reading the books. They did a great job interviewing Mr. Brood!?

Last semester, Teacher Cadets worked with Alex Maxwell from the Center Line Public Library to create large-format children's books that promote self-esteem.?Recently, the Teacher Cadets read the books they created during story time, and the little ones who were in attendance loved the books and were so sweet!?

CLHS Health & Human Services Academy seniors Quang Phan, Noran Al Saedi, and David Smith were chosen from 130 applicants from 32 high schools to participate in the highly-selective Michigan State University Future DOcs program.?This program includes hands-on weekend experiences in hospitals around the county in which participants get a mini medical school experience. #HHSacademy #FutureDocs

THE MICHIGAN CITY OF CENTER LINE Mayor and owner of Binson's Home Health Care, Bob Binson, visited Mr. Davis's Freshman English class to support the teaching of the writing process and public speaking standards. Students are crafting a "State of Me" speech, and Mayor Binson shared valuable insights by providing examples from his own State of the City address.
