Despite overwhelming support in the California legislature, Senate Bill 1118, aimed at expanding solar access to Native American families through the SOMAH Program, was vetoed. This bill would have removed deed restriction barriers, enabling more tribal communities to benefit from energy savings and sustainability incentives. While the veto of SB 1118 caused CA to miss an opportunity for now, SOMAH will continue to increase clean energy, decrease harmful emissions, reduce monthly energy bills for low-income Californians and reduce ratepayer costs.
