The Center for Reproductive Rights uses the power of law to advance reproductive rights as fundamental human rights.
关于我们
For over 25 years, the Center for Reproductive Rights has used the law to advance reproductive freedom as a fundamental human right that all governments are legally obligated to protect, respect, and fulfill. Since 1992, our attorneys have boldly used legal and human rights tools to create this world. We are the only global legal advocacy organization dedicated to reproductive rights, with expertise in both U.S. constitutional and international human rights law. Our groundbreaking cases before national courts, United Nations committees, and regional human rights bodies have expanded access to reproductive healthcare, including birth control, safe abortion, prenatal and obstetric care, and unbiased information. We influence the law outside the courtroom as well, documenting abuses, working with policymakers to promote progressive measures, and fostering legal scholarship and teaching on reproductive health and human rights. We are legal innovators seeking to fundamentally transform the landscape of reproductive health and rights worldwide, and have already strengthened laws and policies in more than 50 countries. Help us realize every woman's right to reproductive health and autonomy.

Porsha Ngumezi should be alive today, safe at home with her beloved babies and her adoring husband. She should have had access to the routine, reliable, lifesaving care she needed: a D&C to help her safely pass her miscarriage. But Texas's extreme abortion ban took that care away from her and took her life instead. Heartbreak, devastation, suffering: these words cannot even begin to describe what Porsha's surviving family has endured because of these evil policies. How long will we allow these backwards laws to tear families apart? How long will politicians stand idly by as these cruel policies snuff out the lives of brilliant, beloved human beings, one by one by one? The injustice is intolerable, and we refuse to be silent. We MUST overturn these archaic bans before more precious lives are lost. No more.

Our client Jillaine St. Michel's heartbreaking story shows the devastating impact of Idaho's cruel abortion bans. Forced to leave her home state to receive critical care during a wanted pregnancy, she and her husband endured grief and logistical barriers while Idaho treated them like criminals. Now, as a plaintiff in our lawsuit against the state of Idaho, Jillaine is suing the state to demand change and sharing her story to ensure that people know what these extreme laws are actually doing: hurting real people and real families. Despite decades-long track records of being extremely safe and extremely effective, the commonly used abortion medications mifepristone and misoprostol may now be listed as “controlled, dangerous substances” in Texas. This has left doctors in the state terrified that—if this bill were to pass—they may not be able to stop women from bleeding to death after giving birth and furious that this move could reverse years of progress in saving lives. It would also undoubtedly hit rural areas and women of color hardest. And why? Because anti-abortion extremists are obsessed with controlling our bodies, no matter the cost.

VICTORY: Extremists' attempt to force Montana abortion care clinics to close with useless restrictions has been BLOCKED! Last month, the Center for Reproductive Rights—together with our partners at ACLUMontana and Dechert LLP—asked the court to block the proposed rules on an emergency basis before they were set to take effect TODAY, November 19. The court granted that request last Friday, and the restrictions will remain blocked as the case proceeds. https://bit.ly/40V1u4F
