Last week, I had the privilege of joining an official US delegation study tour in Berlin and Hamburg where we explored Europe’s cutting-edge offshore wind industry. This effort was coordinated alongside a parallel CPEX delegation study tour. In Berlin, we met with federal agencies and industry experts who spearheaded over 20 years of innovation and advancement in this industry. This visit highlighted how Louisiana can grow its workforce, create jobs, and strengthen our position in the global energy supply chain. By learning from global leaders, we are preparing our state to be a key player in the future of renewable energy. Through this partnership, we are working toward translating Germany’s experience into practical, community-focused solutions for Louisiana’s renewable energy economy. On the anniversary week of Hurricane Katrina, we honor the resilience of Louisiana’s communities and remember CPEX's recovery planning effort, Louisiana Speaks. Launched in 2006, this 18-month initiative engaged over 27,000 citizens across 35 coastal parishes in rebuilding efforts. By incorporating public input, regional planning, and expert guidance, Louisiana Speaks created tools like the Louisiana Land Use Toolkit and Best Practices Manual for Development in Coastal Louisiana—resources that continue to shape growth and preservation throughout the state. Today, we remember the spirit of collaboration and innovation that defined Louisiana Speaks and continues to guide CPEX’s work toward a more resilient Louisiana. #HurricaneKatrina #LouisianaSpeaks #Resilience #CommunityPlanning #CPEX

The Metro Council of Baton Rouge voted to unanimously adopt the Baton Rouge Complete Streets Ordinance! Thank you to the Metro Council for taking this important step towards improved safety and livability in Baton Rouge. Congratulations and thanks to all collaborators, the Complete Streets Advisory Committee, AARP, American Heart Association, and all those who came out in support of the ordinance.

Check out the journey of Complete Streets in Baton Rouge! We've made incredible strides in expanding bike/pedestrian infrastructure and enhancing safety and connectivity for all users over the years. Now, in 2024, we're elevating this practice to an ordinance that ensures our streets are designed for all users. Join us on June 12th to support this pivotal ordinance and continue building a safer, more connected community! Thank you to all of our current and former partners who have helped advance these Complete Streets projects!

Did you know Baton Rouge's Complete Streets policy is getting a major facelift? In 2014, our Metro Council unanimously adopted this policy, leading to vast improvements in bike/pedestrian infrastructure and safety. Now, we're taking it further, turning this practice into an ordinance that carries the force of law and will enhance transportation infrastructure for all users. Join us at the council meeting on June 12th to support this ordinance! Complete Streets are designed for everyone – even if you never walk or bike, they boost community safety, economic development, and connectivity. While not every street will be a complete street, this safe network gives everyone more options for their daily travels. Let's celebrate and sustain accessible and convenient travel for all!
