The Generalist Repository Ecosystem Initiative (GREI) — a National Institutes of Health initiative uniting seven generalist repositories, including the Open Science Framework (OSF) — has released valuable new resources to help researchers and librarians enhance data sharing and increase FAIR principles adoption. We're excited to share these collaborative resources, which provide valuable guidance for data sharing across all disciplines and repository types: ?? A data submission best practices checklist ?? Guide to including generalist repositories in data management and sharing plans These GREI publications were co-developed by Crystal Steltenpohl (COS), Lisa Curtin (Figshare), Jess Herzog (Dryad), and Ana Van Gulick (Figshare). ?? As reported in STAT News, a group of researchers has filed an antitrust lawsuit against six major academic publishers, alleging they violated federal law by creating an exploitative system built on illegal and anticompetitive practices. The case could have significant implications for how scientific research is published and shared, as well as for the broader academic publishing ecosystem. "The need to confront what has been going on in the scientific publishing area is very overdue," said Tim Errington, Senior Director of Research at COS. “This [has reached] a fever pitch now.” ??? ??Assessing the validity and trustworthiness of research claims is a critical and labor-intensive part of the scientific process. Initiated by COS, the Predicting Replicability Challenge is a public competition that aims to advance the automated assessment of research claims. The challenge invites teams to develop algorithmic approaches that predict the likelihood of claims being successfully replicated. Open to participants from academic and non-academic spaces worldwide. Monetary prizes will be awarded to top-performing teams in each round!
