Join CalMatters next Wednesday, November 13, for an important panel discussion on California's mental health parity law. CNM is proud to be a convening partner for this event, which you can attend in-person or virtually ??
??? Is California's mental health parity law working? Join CalMatters health reporter Jocelyn Wiener and a panel of mental health experts next week as they discuss California's landmark parity legislation, passed in 2020. It requires health plans to provide enrollees with all medically necessary mental health and addiction treatment. Four years later, people seeking care say they still see major gaps between what the law requires and what insurers provide. Some people end up leaving the private system for Medi-Cal in an effort to improve their access to treatment. Health plans argue they are complying with the law, despite significant provider shortages. We'll discuss where things are and what comes next. Who: Jocelyn Wiener (moderator) and panelists Lishaun Francis of Children Now, Keris J?n Myrick of the podcast Unapologetically Black Unicorns and Joan Borsten of the Malibu Beach Recovery Center. What: A discussion on mental health parity law When: Wednesday, November 13th, from 12:00pm — 1:00pm Where: The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. For in-person attendees: A networking session with free lunch will take place from 11:00am — 12:00pm for attendees and panelists.
