Most of the scheduled panelists were from the nonprofit Jobs for the Future, which is partly funded by the Department of Labor, and they could no longer participate because of the executive orders that require federal agencies to end contracts and grants related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Rutgers officials said." ? ?? New Brief Alert?? ? We are thrilled to share a new brief by Elizabeth “Libby” Taylor! Her research explores how HBCUs’ Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policies vary and how higher education professionals can design programs for more meaningful support for students during their matriculation. Libby is the Academic Advising Dean at the University of Virginia, a role she started in August 2024. Previously, she served as Director of Academic Success and Assistant Professor of History at Miles College, an HBCU in Birmingham, AL, where she managed multiple academic support programs. Her interests include the retention of high-risk populations, student retention, academic recovery, HBCUs, and educational equity.
