?? The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time Research Assistant position. This role supports research on the intersection of global security, economics, and development while building both qualitative and quantitative skills. Key Responsibilities: Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings for academic and policy outputs. Manage survey data collection and perform analysis using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R) and qualitative tools (e.g., NVIVO, Atlas.ti, MaxQDA). Support data collection and analysis from field research in regions including Latin America, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Assist with administrative and project management tasks. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in political science, economics, sociology, international development, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills. Experience with literature reviews and data synthesis. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the political economy of development or related disciplines. Coursework or experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Exposure to field research, including data collection from surveys or interviews. Experience with statistical and qualitative data analysis software. Dr. Tareq Abu Hamed, Executive Director of The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, will join CGM for a discussion, "Environmental Diplomacy During Crises: Perspectives from Israel and Palestine." ?? Dr. Abu Hamed previously served in the Israeli Ministry of Science, Technology and Space, first as the Director of Engineering and Applied Research and then as Deputy Chief Scientist, including three months as Acting Chief Scientist of the State of Israel. Dr. Abu Hamed is a recognized leader in Middle Eastern environmental diplomacy focusing on renewable energy technology and regional cooperation. He is a recipient of the 2024 American Association for Advancement of Science David and Betty Hamburg Award for Science Diplomacy for his leadership in using science to build relationships across the Middle East, particularly between Israelis and Palestinians, to work together to address mutual environmental concerns. The?Arava Institute for Environmental Studies?brings together Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian, and international students to protect fragile shared environmental resources, eliminate conflict over these scarce natural resources, and serve as a model for constructive peacemaking.?Through university-level courses and research projects, it trains environmental leaders while fostering cooperation between communities that have been locked in conflict. The talk is part of the as part of the?Governing Deep Differences Speaker Series?at the Center for Governance and Markets.
