The CGA is Welcoming Aaron Groth and Micah Schmidt from the OSU Forestry and Natural Resources Extension Fire Program for a virtual presentation. This talk will introduce students to some GIS applications relevant to wildland fire. GIS analysis serves as an essential tool to characterize fire hazard, risk, and potential fire behavior at scales ranging from large landscapes down to individual properties. Additionally, GIS analysis informs collaboration on how and where to prioritize landscape scale treatments for wildfire resiliency across federal, state, Tribal, and private ownerships. Finally, GIS plays a critical role in a community’s wildfire response and recovery. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eHiMmV2h

Congratulations to CGA Adjunct Professor Matt Gerike for receiving the URISA Service Award. The Service Award is presented to members who have demonstrated faithful service to URISA and participation in its program over a period of several years. Matt has always stepped up to the plate to provide guidance for the committees he's on, He's prepared and goes above and beyond the call of duty to make things happen. He's also not one to sit and listen during meetings and often has food for thought and great recommendations for the committee to move ahead on pressing matters. He is a great resource to see how they do things in his state and he's willing to share. Congratulations also to Deb Rozeboom, PMP, ENP, GISP who was given the URISA Leadership Award.
