The Archaeological Field Director will provide technical expertise, compliance monitoring, and field oversight of an archaeological crew conducting fieldwork on behalf of the United States Army at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. The Field Director will conduct a records search in order to familiarize themselves with installation plans and previous cultural studies and inventories. The Field Director will supervise staff in the field and oversee all fieldwork activities, including Phase I pedestrian surveys, GPS data collection, excavation of shovel test pits, site recordation, feature and artifact identification and analysis, and mapping.
