The new reports make one thing very clear: Unless something changes, large numbers of the country’s nonprofits will be financially crippled or forced to shut down. Given our society’s reliance on many of these organizations to hold together what’s left of America’s social safety net, the results would be disastrous for millions of Americans in need.

Social Security is at risk and our elected officials need to come up with a plan. You paid into the system and deserve to feel confident that your investment will be returned to you when you retire.

Lindsay Heckler testified at the NYS Health Budget Hearings yesterday about the need to increase the $50 monthly personal needs allowance for nursing home residents. It has not been increased in over 34 years, leaving residents completely impoverished and deprived of even the smallest conveniences.#NYSbudget
