“The rescue phase is over. The federal relief dollars are gone. It is time to pivot from short-term recovery to longer term challenges such as reducing absenteeism and addressing the slide in literacy,” says Professor Tom Kane, director of Center for Education Policy Research. The latest edition of the Education Recovery Scorecard, a report analyzing learning loss during and following the pandemic, highlights the need for long-term structural reform as federal relief funding for K-12 schools during the pandemic has ended. A new report by LPI Senior Fellow sean reardon and researchers at Stanford University Graduate School of Education and the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University finds that while U.S. students are still behind pre-pandemic achievement levels in reading and math, students in a number of school districts across the country have regained the ground they lost in both subjects. However, disparities have widened, and high-income districts are nearly four times more likely to recover than low-income ones. The report also finds that now ended federal pandemic aid supported students' academic recovery. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gmUBAYpU
