Today, we’re introducing our Academic Integrity in GenAI principles, launched in collaboration with Chegg Inc.'s Academic Advisory Board members and the UK's Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI). As universities and students worldwide are increasingly leveraging GenAI to support learning, we want to continue prioritizing responsible adoption, and these principles are designed to guide ethical GenAI use and maintain academic standards. We invite higher education groups, policymakers, and think tanks to join this important conversation. Explore our Academic Integrity in GenAI Principles here: https://lnkd.in/eaSQKWxr

How can we bridge the post-secondary credentials gap? In this new episode of the #HigherEdSpotlight, host Ben Wildavsky sits down with Western Governors University President Scott Pulsipher to discuss how WGU’s innovative competency-based model is tackling this challenge. Two-thirds of future jobs are projected to require post-secondary credentials, but too few workers hold them. Scott explains how WGU’s new approach allows students to earn college degrees for skills they’ve already mastered, fast-tracking their preparation for the future workforce. Scott also discusses WGU’s recent acquisition of Craft Education System, a technology platform that helps convert on-the-job learning into academic credits. This acquisition supports innovative pathways that integrate work-based experiences with educational programs such as degree apprenticeships. He further unpacks the role employers can play in upskilling their teams rather than hiring externally, as well as the cultural shift required to make higher education more accessible to everyone. Building on our commitment to integrity in the age of AI, our second principle sheds light on the role of collaboration. Through working with the educational community, we ensure that our GenAI-enabled tools can effectively enhance student learning and development. Such partnerships can help us identify potential risks to academic integrity that we might not otherwise recognize. Collaboration should be an ongoing and continuous process facilitated by transparent and open communication. We are focused on identifying and establishing shared goals, priorities, strategies, and implementation pathways. We recently launched our Academic Integrity in GenAI principles, and the first principle we introduced focuses on promoting the responsible use of services. To uphold the quality and credibility of our GenAI-enabled tools, we collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders, like educators, and internal teams across legal and product departments. Together, we strategize, develop, and implement tactics that mitigate misuse of our GenAI-enabled tools. We're also providing explicit guidelines on using our GenAI-enabled tools correctly and effectively, offering specific examples and practical instructions that empower students to leverage our products effectively as intended.
