CCR is a global non-profit organization dedicated to making education more relevant by answering the question: Why, What, and How should students learn for an age of A.I.? CCR brings together international organizations, jurisdictions, academic institutions, corporations, non-profit organizations, and foundations. Understanding the “Why” and reshaping the “What” and “How” of Education is ever-more critical in the context of economic and social justice/equity issues, which are being amplified by new technologies (AI, Biotech etc.) and planetary-wide problems (global warming, pandemic, etc.). The last major changes to the historical curriculum took effect in the late 1800’s as a response to the sudden growth in societal and human capital needs. As the world of the 21st century bears little resemblance to that of the 19th century, education curricula need to be deeply redesigned for the four dimensions of (modernized) Knowledge, Skills, Character, and Meta-Learning. Adapting to 21st century needs means revisiting each dimension and the interplay between them and modern pedagogy. CCR’s leading role in deep, synthesized, and applied research and product development is more timely than ever. CCR thus offers thought leadership (books, papers), and designs: * Standards/Curricula in partnership with jurisdictions, foundations, and school systems (Mathematics, World History, World Literature, Chemistry, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) * Courseware (Mathematics, Computer Science, AI, Cleantech, Nanotech, etc.) * Professional Development for Skills, Character, and Meta-Learning * Pedagogical and technology tools (Projects Portal, etc.) For more info, contact us at [email protected]

Two AI-related Nobel prizes (Physics and Chemistry) already! That tells us a couple of things: - The Nobel committee has expanded the definition of traditional disciplines to accommodate new fields. Algorithms, while significant, do not fall neatly into Physics or Chemistry categories. I would prefer instead to see new categories emerge, such as "Applied Mathematics," despite the existence of the Fields medal. ?? - AI has now achieved Nobel recognition in both disciplines, mirroring the accomplishment of Marie Curie. ?? ?? (yes, this is tongue-in-cheek, we still have humans in the driver seat). Brave New World. #ArtificialIntelligence?#AI #Nobel #Algorithms

There is enormous demand from educators to learn how to use AI effectively in their classroom. Existing courses are usually either policy guidelines or low-level pedagogies related to avoiding student cheating that do not address deep AI Literacy. Center for Curriculum Redesign’s on-demand Teacher Training and Student Curriculum, “AI Literacy: Thinking with the Machines,” allows novice and expert teachers of all disciplines to master AI for their own professional use and teach it to their students. https://lnkd.in/etpVEBqV #AIforEducation #ArtificialIntelligence #ProfessionalDevelopment #Schoolleaders

As predicted in my 2024 book "Education for the Age of AI" https://lnkd.in/edrj7fxt (p25-26), here's the first large-scale example of the need for a new branch of Anthropology: "Kybernetology" (the study of AI-AI interactions and societies). ??

Glad to be able to share my thoughts with the Clayton Christensen institute - adapting to the AI transformation will require a lot more than figuring out school/jurisdictional policies re prompting and cheating...
What will it actually take to fully embrace AI's transformative potential in education? Charles Fadel of the Center for Curriculum Redesign argues that we must rethink both WHAT we teach and HOW we teach, to ensure that students are prepared for tomorrow's jobs and equipped to navigate life's complexities with wisdom: https://lnkd.in/gRGUBZXx #AI #K12Curriculum #SchoolCurriculum #AIandTeaching

CCR quoted in IOE’s work and AI policy review: We are honored that our latest book, Education for the Age of AI, is mentioned in "The Impact of AI on Work and Employment," the new policy review by the International Organisation of Employers (IOE). Released with support from the European Union, this work analyzes the role AI plays across various employment sectors, delving into the opportunities and challenges widespread AI integration will bring to the employment landscape. ? The review is meant as a resource for employers and policymakers attempting to prepare for and navigate AI-prompted changes. As it outlines strategies for facilitating workforce transitions, it stresses the importance of lifelong learning and flexibility, and quotes me stating: "Skills are both challenged and augmented by AI, and “Meta-Learning” (Learning how to learn) is more critical than ever." Just as an FYI in case you are not familiar with them, IOE is the sole representative of business in social and employment policy debates taking place in the International Labour Organization, across the UN, G20, and other emerging forums. Its is made up of more than 150 member organizations.
