Awareness is essential for leading with authenticity and sensitivity. It cultivates a greater understanding of emotions and reactions – our own, and others – and empowers leaders to act thoughtfully, maintain a strong moral compass, and remain steady, adaptable, and effective in the service of inspiring and facilitating meaningful change. ‘Cultivating Awareness for Leaders and Life’ is a specialized course designed to deepen your leadership through the practice of awareness. Our 6-week online program begins on November 17 and runs for 6 consecutive Sundays at 11:00 am Eastern US time thru December 22, 2024. Lead Faculty: Leisl Bryant, PhD. Grounded in scientific research and merging scientific insight with practical exercises, this course will help you begin to cultivate a leadership approach that is self-aware, compassionate, flexible, and impactful. Each session, comprised of short talks, guided practice, group discussion, and Q&A, is crafted to help you develop a deeper understanding of your mind, emotions, and motivations, translating this awareness into more effective leadership. Sliding scale tuition, please contribute what you can. #FlashbackFriday: Research shows in recent years that 60% of Americans are deemed to be lonely. We all feel it to some degree, and our mental and emotional health is compromised as a result. In fact, lacking social connection, both at work and in our personal lives, can have as negative an impact on a person’s mortality as smoking, hypertension, or physical inactivity. #FearlessFriday Compassion is "a practical tool for creating a more just and equitable world, writes Ward Media LLC CEO Terry Ward. "Research shows that compassionate individuals and communities experience better mental health, lower crime rates, and stronger social bonds." "Compassion isn't about grand gestures or solving all the world's problems single-handedly. It starts with small acts: offering a kind word to someone on the street, volunteering at a local shelter, or supporting organizations that provide housing and job training. These actions, while seemingly small, can be life-changing for those in need and create ripples of positivity throughout our communities." #ThursdayThoughts "New research in behavioral science has revealed that cynical thinking stands in the way of success in the workplace... Cynicism can bleed workplaces of creativity, openness, and morale, and the bottom line — whereas the people who succeed at work tend to do so by building trusting connections and alliances." Reframe Cancer conducted a survey of 500 UK adults who worked while dealing with cancer, and discovered that 28 percent avoided discussing their illness with colleagues, and nearly half of the surveyed men struggled with this conversation. "Effectively supporting employees facing cancer requires not only compassionate policies, but also a culture of understanding and flexibility within the workplace."
