Special thanks to WABE health reporter, Jess Mador, for spotlighting CBWW and how home visiting programs help to address the maternal health crisis in Georgia. Jess shadowed Perez, a family support specialist and doula, on a home visit and captured this story. This story is part of the ongoing series, Missing Moms. Stay tuned for more! #maternalhealth https://lnkd.in/eyN92jsP

Another amazing annual health fair in the books! We are so tremendously grateful for the sponsors, vendors, and partners who participated in the Health Fair last Saturday, including Northside Hospital, the The Links, Incorporated, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and many more. Most of all, thanks to the COMMUNITY who came out and showed support. Hundreds participated and benefited from free health screenings, educational workshops and resources. We thank you! #community

The 2024 Numbers to Big to Ignore luncheon was an amazing event, supporting The Atlanta Women's Foundation. The event featured special guest, Molly Shannon, and raised much needed support for organizations that benefit women and girls. A very special thank you to Kaiser Permanente for the invite and for investing in our women.

CBWW is thrilled to announce a grant from CVS Health in the amount of $150,000 to support our Doula Program. The funding will support our continued effort to strengthen the coordination of health care services post-delivery and will increase access to doula services and education. We also celebrate our partners Good Samaritan Health Center Atlanta and Open Hand Atlanta who, along with Uber Health, received support from CVS Health for a new Health Zone to increase access to comprehensive health care services, medically tailored meals and transportation for patients with chronic diseases. Here’s to a healthier Atlanta! #healthequity #atlanta

We are pleased to share that the Healthy Start Alumni Peer Navigator Program won the highest honor in the Don Norman Design Award DNDA competition, the Award of Excellence!? The DNDA is a design award given to early career professionals to recognize their achievements in human-centered and community design. The Center for Black Women's Wellness is one of six Healthy Start projects participating in a “Benefits Bundle” Alumni Navigator pilot. The Alumni Navigator pilot is a peer-based model to help families navigate the transition to parenthood, emphasizing building a trusted relationship through which a navigator can provide social, informational, and emotional support, “bundling” the resources in a more relevant and efficient way for families. The interagency project team created the role of the “Alumni Navigator,” a mother who recently completed the Healthy Start program at the pilot location, having navigated resources and supports in the area. Special thanks to our very own APN lead, Rahkia Williams, and our APNs, Dasia Anderson, Jireka Gurley, Nikki Daniels, Whitney Jenkins, and Wykeisha Howe, for ALL they do on this project and for our community! #maternalchildhealth #Blackmaternalhealth #partnerships

In 2021, after many years of a much needed facelift, we were fortunate to receive inkind services from Hendrick for the redesign of our space. We couldn’t be more pleased working with them to create the perfect space that our staff and community deserves. Thus, we are glad to celebrate Hendrick’s 50th year anniversary! Here’s to many more to come! #partnerships #design #health
