The Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) is a national community foundation. A program of ACCESS, CAAP’s objective is to unite and empower the Arab American community by demonstrating the impact of giving together. We improve communities by making grants to nonprofit organizations. We serve donors by providing them with smart tools and resources to carry out their philanthropic giving. We build leaders by educating and inspiring Arab Americans, including youth, to realize their potential for change. Most of all, we shape perceptions about Arab Americans by highlighting their generous heritage and exceptional contributions to society. Visit www.centeraap.org to learn more.

CAAP recently attended the Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR)'s National Conference, where we had the opportunity to hear from and engage in discussions with national leaders, funders and advocates dedicated to supporting immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. We were honored that CAAP’s parent organization, ACCESS - Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services , and our sister organization, the Arab American National Museum (AANM), were selected as a site visit for conference attendees. This visit provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase our work and share our Arab American history with attendees. Pictured here are CAAP staff members Katherine Asuncion and Brittany Shaheen.

As we kick off this year’s session of the Teen Grantmaking Initiative (TGI), we want to extend our congratulations to Khadeja Rizvi, a three-year executive TGI member and now an alumna.? ? ??During her time in this CAAP program, which teaches young people the skill of grantmaking, Khadeja and her peers raised thousands of dollars in support of youth-related causes. Beyond the direct community impact she made, Khadeja demonstrated exceptional leadership by guiding the program’s direction, leading meetings and mentoring other members through onboarding and training. ? ??Having completed the program, Khadeja is now pursuing her bachelors degree at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in Computer Science. Mabrouk, Khadeja!
