Cyber criminals are always up to something new, and now they’re messing with our QR codes. It’s called quishing, and while the name makes it sound kind of cute, it’s definitely not. Quick Response (QR) codes, which were invented by a Japanese company in 1994 to track inventory through its automobile assembly process, became popular around 2010 as an easy way to share links. Even though it fell out of fashion a few years later, it saw a resurgence in 2020 with the pandemic. For the last few years, we’ve been using them everywhere to share all sorts of links. But threat actors have realized they can also be an easy way to steal data. It’s called quishing, and we all need to be on the lookout for it. Yes, There’s Yet Another Cyber Threat: Quishing https://bit.ly/4fjT5w0

Long story short, endpoint protection solutions are more robust than antivirus software and do much more to protect your business. But what’s an endpoint, anyway? It’s any device or server that might be on your network, physically or virtually. And that’s exactly why cyber criminals love attacking endpoints — they’re a way into an entire network. Technology is a double-edged sword for non-profits — they depend on it to support their work, but it’s also a big expense that diverts funds from their cause. Almost half (45%) of non-profits say they’re spending too little on tech, and 77% of those organizations say it’s because the budget just isn’t available. Since 2017, Cenetric has relieved Kansas City non-profits of this burden by supporting their missions with free IT support for a year. Nominate a non-profit organization now at the link below! Most of the time, you’ll find the Cenetric team working the help desk to solve issues for clients or out creating just the right Wi-Fi setup to fix connectivity problems. But not on one hot August morning a few months ago. On that day, you could find part of our team running and walking in the 22nd Annual Head for the Cure 5K - Kansas City. While we’re typically up for any 5K, this one was particularly special to us so we could support our friend Harry Campbell and his family. Running Cables? Today’s churches hold a significant amount of personal data about employees and members — making network security just as important for them as it is for any other organization. Technology has made church services and programs available to more people than ever before, but it’s also left them susceptible to cyberattack. In fact, churches and other places of worship can be more vulnerable because criminals might assume they lack the proper protections. From viruses to data theft, there’s a lot more danger to church networks than most leaders are prepared for. But by following these important steps, you can protect your church and its members — and not become a cybersecurity statistic. 10 Crucial Steps To Secure Your Church Network https://bit.ly/4h6rujd
