My journey working with and understanding childhood trauma has been a long one spanning around 14 years plus Step one was learning that trauma is stored and relived in the body first and foremost - something I’d never come across! Growing up I watched my mom get abused by boyfriend after boyfriend. As a child, you don’t always understand what’s going on. But that doesn’t stop it from making an impact on you emotionally. As I got older, I started getting myself into abusive relationships—not because I wanted to, but because that was the only type of relationship I knew. These situations cause so much more than just physical harm—they can rip into our psyche and cause mental and emotional damage that can last a lifetime and affect everyone around you. I’m a survivor of domestic abuse, and over years of hard work and effort was able to finally break free of the mental and emotional chains my abusers (and my own negative self-thinking) had put on me. This is why I’m excited to announce that on October 5th, 19th, and 26th we are holding interactive pop-up series to help individuals and families turn their pain into plans to heal. What took me years to learn and do, we’ll be trying to give to others in just 3 days! (Free of charge, though donations are appreciated.)
