At Celebrity Series of Boston, we believe in the power of live performance—not just on stage, but in the moments of mentorship, creativity, and collaboration that happen behind the scenes. Last week, pianist/composer Conrad Tao and choreographer/dancer Caleb Teicher took the stage for their stunning performances of Counterpoint at Boston Arts Academy—but their impact went far beyond the spotlight. Before their public performances, Conrad and Caleb worked directly with BAA students, leading a workshop on collaboration and improvisation, opening rehearsals to the school community, and mentoring students in technical theater—including lighting, stage design, sound, and stage management. This residency was part of a 10-year partnership between Celebrity Series and BAA, bringing world-class artists into Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts. As one of the first presenters to bring nationally acclaimed artists to BAA’s state-of-the-art theater, we were thrilled to create opportunities for students to learn, engage, and see themselves in the artists and productions that shape the performing arts today. A huge thank you to Conrad, Caleb, Maura Tighe, Tyrone Sutton, the incredible BAA students and faculty, and everyone who made this partnership so meaningful! Stay tuned for more moments from this inspiring residency. #CelebritySeries #BostonArtsAcademy #ArtsEducation #LivePerformance #Mentorship

Championing New Work and Diverse Voices with Solos Together What does it mean to come together after a time of isolation? That question sparked Solos Together, an initiative launched by Celebrity Series in 2022 to support new music and to celebrate collaboration. Through this project, we commission nationally renowned composers to write new works for incredible Boston-based ensembles. Each piece highlights the artistry of individual musicians before bringing them back together—creating a musical journey from solo to ensemble. Solos Together uplifts a diverse group of creators and performers, amplifying voices historically underrepresented in chamber and classical music. Works created for Solos Together live on as audition pieces and concert selections, making the program's impact even greater. In spring 2025, we’re thrilled to share two new world premieres, written for acclaimed Boston-area ensembles, at free performances across the city. ?? Castle of our Skins | world premiere work by Brian Raphael Nabors ?? March 1 | Bethel AME Church, Jamaica Plain ?? Boston Conservatory at Berklee Faculty Brass Quintet | world premiere work by Alice Gomez ?? April 6 | Arlington Street Church, Back Bay Join us as we celebrate bold new music and the artists who bring it to life. #CelebritySeries #NewMusic #SolosTogether #ChamberMusic https://lnkd.in/gqAa4rmZ

Last week, Stave Sessions returned to the Crystal Ballroom for its 10th anniversary, bringing four unforgettable nights of genre-defying performances to Somerville. From swirling vocals and electronics to bold brass and reimagined string quartets, this year’s lineup showcased the innovation and boundary-pushing artistry that have defined Stave Sessions since its launch in 2015. Courtney Swain, Owls, Seth Parker Woods, and The Westerlies captivated audiences with performances that blended virtuosity, experimentation, and raw emotion. Set in a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere—complete with a full-service bar—Stave Sessions once again proved why it’s a must-see celebration of contemporary music. The Boston Globe called this year’s festival “a thrilling showcase of contemporary music’s limitless possibilities.” Read their full review here: https://lnkd.in/eb7KGpKZ A huge thank you to the incredible artists, audiences, and everyone who made this milestone year so special. Here’s to another decade of musical discovery! #StaveSessions #CelebritySeries #LiveMusic #BostonArts
