Last week, I was honored to present at the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) STEAM Leadership Conference alongside my amazing colleagues Eric Koonce and Shameka Williams! We led a session focused on how you can cultivate passion for learning and help students persist academically through Project Based Leanring. I had a great time yesterday representing Georgia AIM: Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing as a judge for the 2025 K-12 InVenture Prize state finals. Hundreds of kids in grades K-12 gathered to pitch their solutions to problems they identified, including special trash cans, apps to help in all sorts of ways, 3D printed solutions, and many, many more. I got to judge a group of high school students, each with remarkable products in their own right: A compression sleeve that helps cool you down to prevent heatstroke, a glove outfitted with a gyroscope and accelerometers to help Parkinsons patients, a pill dispenser that uses voice activation, and a 3D printed diagnostic tool to detect rare cancers (with an added bonus of an AI-trained database of images to help medical professionals make diagnoses). Overall, a lovely way to spend a Wednesday in Atlanta. Congrats to all the students who competed and thanks to the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) for putting together such a great program for Georgia students!
