关于我们
The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) is a unit within the College of Lifetime Learning at Georgia Tech. CEISMC serves as the primary connection point between Georgia Tech faculty and students and the preK-12 STEM education community. CEISMC enhances PreK-12 and post-secondary STEM education by drawing upon the expertise and scholarly contributions of the Georgia Tech community. CEISMC advocates for and leads systemic changes to increase STEM interest and achievement for all students, especially those underrepresented in STEM. CEISMC’s research efforts allow for the identification and dissemination of evidence-based best practices in STEM education. ? GoSTEAM at the Georgia Institute of Technology?is a multidimensional, school-based initiative that began as a seed of an idea and has grown into a sustainable model that empowers teachers through collaborative thinking spaces. In six years, GoSTEAM impacted 13 schools in three school districts, involving 70 teachers and more than 5,000 K-12 students. The following vignettes illustrate how GoSTEAM has empowered students and educators to push the boundaries of learning and imagination. ?? ?? https://lnkd.in/eSyG9ek7???

Congratulations to Meltem Alemdar, Ph.D., Heidi Turcotte, and Emily G Weigel, Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology, along with Mesa Davis from Clayton State University and Lucy Bush from Mercer University on receiving a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. They will develop and implement a university-based summer program called Research Experiences for Pre-Service Teachers at Georgia Tech, recruiting participants from Clayton State and Mercer. Their project is one of four funded by a new partnership between NSF and the Micron Foundation, aimed at advancing STEM education training for both pre-service and in-service teachers.?? ?? https://lnkd.in/eZ2pYJvf Georgia Tech College of Sciences, Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC)

Our K-12 outreach collaborator in ATL Saturday programs, Elaissa Trybus Hardy, PhD, PMP, with her team at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta recently received an NIH grant for a STEMM (STEM + medicine) mentoring program. Current college or professional students enrolled at Georgia Institute of Technology or Morehouse School of Medicine in a STEMM major, will be paired with a middle or high school student with Sickle Cell Disease who also has an interest in STEMM. The team is currently recruiting mentors for 2025-2026 school year. Check out details below and apply: https://lnkd.in/ezsAZfMp

Congratulations to Eunhye Grace Flavin from the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) and Matthew Flavin from Georgia Tech College of Engineering, who have received seed funding from Georgia Tech VIP Program to lead the Mechatronics and Motivation VIP team of undergrad and grad students in spring 2025. Focusing on applying wearable haptic devices in K-12 classrooms, the team will leverage advanced haptic concepts, along with commercial AR/VR headsets, to make learning?and?teaching more engaging, effective, and inclusive for diverse K–12 student populations. This project also builds on their paper with other collaborators that was recently published in Nature Magazine - https://lnkd.in/eaBJmVef
