As political and economic pressures mount, Nandika Madgavkar, Chief Growth Officer at CECP, emphasizes the critical role of corporate purpose when navigating uncertain times. Despite growing backlash against ESG initiatives, Nandika suggests that businesses like IBM, DuPont, Procter & Gamble, and JPMorganChase are committed to their long-term values and purpose, such as sustainable business practices and community/social impact, are better positioned to succeed. CECP’s Giving in Numbers? reports that companies with a clear, purpose-driven strategy not only weather crises more effectively but also see higher valuations compared to those lacking a strong sense of purpose. In today’s volatile environment, maintaining a focus on sustainability, ethics, and stakeholder value is a key driver of corporate success. Women in leadership are making strides in closing the gender gap across all levels of business. Companies with female CEOs are leading the way, showing stronger female representation on boards and in the executive suite compared to male-led companies. Key takeaways from CECP’s Investing in Society: 2024 Edition: ?? Female CEOs in the Fortune 500 and S&P Global 1200 have 10% more women on their boards than male-led companies. ?? Female-led companies saw a 13.3% increase in female executives from 2019 to 2022, while companies led by men saw a decline. ??
