Completed: 2022 Height: 21.64m (71 ft) Floor Area: 10,000,000 sq ft (930,000m sq) Land Area: 2,500 acres Owner: Tesla Inc Gigafactory Texas (also known as Giga Texas, Giga Austin, or Gigafactory 5) is a Tesla automotive manufacturing facility and their Head Quarters in Travis County, Texas, just outside of Austin. Construction began in July 2020, limited production of Model Y began before the end of 2021, and initial deliveries of vehicles built at the factory took place at an opening party called "Cyber Rodeo" on April 7, 2022. The factory produces Model Y cars for the Eastern United States and is also the main factory for the Cybertruck and the company's next-generation vehicle. It also serves as the site of Tesla's corporate headquarters. Tesla employs over 20,000 people at the factory and expects to eventually have a staff of 60,000 as production ramps up. It is the country's second biggest factory by size as well as the second-largest building by volume in the world after the Boeing Everett Factory. The Tesla Texas factory is located in Del Valle, an unincorporated city within the greater Austin area. With nearly 40 crew members on-site, John demonstrated exceptional leadership, keeping the team focused and prioritizing safety every step of the way. During the visit, the workforce shared details about upcoming projects, enjoyed a few laughs, and celebrated hard work by handing out some well-deserved awards. Exciting progress at the TIAA job site! Our recent visit gave us a chance to see firsthand the incredible work our team has accomplished. The lower floors are now fully furnished and ready, showcasing the attention to detail and quality craftsmanship that defines CEC. As we focus on putting the finishing touches on the upper floors, we couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication that has gone into every aspect of this project. A special shoutout to Keith Cleary and Jerry Alvarado for their exceptional leadership and dedication in managing floors 10-15 of this project, as well as to Jose Peralta, Martin Ramirez, and Santiago Tapia for their outstanding work on floors 1-9. Their expertise and hard work have been instrumental in keeping everything on track and achieving outstanding results. CEC is proud to announce Dave Wood as the leader of our Mountain West Region! Since joining us, Dave has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise gained over 35 years in the electrical contracting industry. His diverse experience spans a wide array of projects, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, laboratory, tech, and hyperscale data centers. Dave’s extensive background with Design/Build and GMP delivery systems, along with traditional bid-build projects, has been instrumental in advancing the success of our operations in the Mountain West Region. Dave’s career in the electrical industry began shortly after high school when he joined the apprenticeship program, fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming an electrician. He spent seven years in the field honing his skills before transitioning into an office role as a Project Manager. To this day, Dave values his field experience and stays connected to his roots by helping family and friends with small electrical projects. His ability to build strong teams and foster collaboration has been a cornerstone of his leadership at CEC. In his role at CEC, Dave is focused on strengthening our team in the Mountain West Region, driving innovation, and delivering outstanding results for our clients. His commitment to excellence and his collaborative approach continue to have a meaningful impact across the organization. Outside of work, Dave enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. His hobbies include golfing, off-roading, boating, wave running, hunting, and fishing. He also loves grilling/smoking, and creating memorable meals to share with family and friends. At CEC, we’re proud to reflect on the incredible work our team accomplished on a recent Design-Build project at Canadian Solar, pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence. This wasn’t just another job—it was an opportunity to bring cutting-edge systems to life and set the stage for producing solar panels, moving toward a more sustainable future. Our scope included both electrical and plumbing systems, showcasing our versatility and expertise. On the electrical side, we installed switchgear for a 400V system, a complex multi-tiered cable tray, and equipment panels powering three process lines and one packaging line. We also brought tools and equipment online, ensuring seamless operation across production. On the plumbing side, we delivered efficient and reliable systems critical to the manufacturing process, from supply lines to specialty piping. In addition, we installed low-voltage systems like security, access control, and server rooms, all supported by a UPS system for uninterrupted operations. This project came together through the leadership of Eric Godino, the precision of Halie Harrison and Jim Tedesco, and the exceptional contributions of our BIM and safety teams, led by David Adams and Major Norman. Projects like this remind us why we love what we do.
