?? SBTi’s updated Net Zero Standard is out: What are CDR industry voices saying about it???? ?? Yesterday, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) released the draft Version 2 of the Corporate Net Zero Standard, which clarifies some aspects of durable CDR but leaves open questions about timing, scale, and corporate responsibility. The standard, which covers a wide range of corporate net-zero targets, is widely regarded as one of the strongest potential demand signals for durable CDR. Here’s how some of the leading voices in CDR are reacting to the latest version: ?? Our Co-founder Robert H?glund highlights concerns around target limitation to Scope1 emissions and believes that it won't make much of a difference in scaling durable CDR. ?? Simon Bager, PhD, Klimate.co also feels that the guidelines limit the adoption of durable CDR, while urging for further refinement for it to play a more effective role going forward. ?? Ted Christie-Miller, Residual,?raises the need for stronger incentives to scale durable CDR, also emphasizing the risks of over-reliance on avoided emissions. ?? Meera Atreya from Carbon Direct supports SBTi’s push for near-term CDR targets but highlights that clear market guidance is still needed for businesses to take action. What’s your take? ? How effective will the revised SBTi guideline be in driving CDR demand? ?? Very effective ?? Somewhat effective ?? Not effective ?? Too early to tell ?? Share your thoughts in the comments! ? Check out the reactions of the industry leaders in the comments below. ?? Be sure to join Robert, Eve and Sebastian tomorrow, March 20, 11.30AM CET for a CDR Policy Scoop to follow the discussion on the topic: https://lnkd.in/euF-_YRZ?
