We’re feeling focused and renewed after CDR’s strategic planning retreat! The whole team traveled to our newest #CentralColorado office in Salida, where Melissa Bade welcomed us to her adopted town—a beautiful backdrop for strategic conversations and important moments of reflection. ??? CDR Principal Jonathan Bartsch remarked on our organization's incredible 45+ years of history, and our team of facilitators took turns leading sessions and posing thoughtful questions. We spent a few days discussing growth opportunities, sharing project challenges, and highlighting what gets us most excited about our work. But don’t worry, Audrey Clavijo made sure we also had time to enjoy nearby hot springs and (cold) skiing! ?? One thing’s for sure: we have a fantastic team of talented engagement specialists and strategic thinkers ready to build #consensus, strengthen #coalitions, and resolve #conflict in Colorado and beyond. We’re looking forward to what’s in store for us in 2025, so stay tuned! ? #strategicplanning #consensusbuilding #stakeholderengagement #facilitation #environmentalconflict

Congratulations to Colorado Forest Collaboratives Network Coordinator Katie McGrath Novak and CSU Center for Collaborative Conservation intern Priscila Santos Urteaga on hosting a successful annual summit in La Plata County last month! This year’s theme, "Scaling and Sustaining Local Impact," highlighted the successes of place-based collaboratives while recognizing the challenges of aligning goals and opportunities across local, regional, state, and national levels—a topic CDR is well acquainted with. CDR Program Manager Laura Hickey saw her passion for forest work dovetail with CDR's projects and pedagogy as she and fellow Program Manager Melissa Bade delivered a facilitation and conflict management skills training to Summit participants. Congratulations to Jefferson County, Colorado Open Space for making exciting progress on the Clear Creek Canyon Trail! ??♀? If you caught last Friday’s cover story in The Denver Post, you’ve seen that the County is moving forward with efforts to complete the next phase of construction—another three-mile segment west of Golden—of the multi-use trailway along Clear Creek and U.S. Route 6. The full #ClearCreekCanyonTrail is part of a 65-mile trail system that, once completed, will connect Loveland Pass to Adams County. CDR’s Laura Hickey, Audrey Clavijo, and Melissa Bade have supported municipalities and partners across the corridor in Adams, Denver, Jefferson, Clear Creek Counties to coordinate resources and planning efforts. Construction over the next two years will include paved and wheelchair-accessible trails, over- and underpasses, parking, restrooms, and trailheads, providing greater recreational amenities as well as improved traffic safety. Read the cover story below! #ClearCreek #recreation #colorado #publiclands

Your next trip on I-70 just got a lot safer! ?? The first wildlife crossing along the I-70 Mountain Corridor is now open to traffic for vehicles and wildlife alike. As you travel along the interstate between the Lookout Mountain and Genessee exists, various species of animals will be passing underneath the roadway. Collisions with wildlife are expected to decrease by up to 90 percent thanks to the new infrastructure. As long-time facilitators of the Colorado Wildlife & Transportation Alliance, the CDR team is thrilled to see on-the-ground projects supported by the Alliance's efforts come to fruition—especially along the #I70MountainCorridor, where our team has engaged nearby communities and jurisdictions for many years as part of the Context Sensititve Solutions (CSS) process. #ColoradoWTA #wildlifecrossing #transportationsafety #roadecology
