The experience was incredibly enriching, and I thoroughly enjoyed the valuable insights shared throughout the event. While I spoke about aligning DevSecOps with vulnerability management to create a cohesive and secure development pipeline, ?? Ali Baccouche explored the implications of evolving regulations like EU's Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) on organizations, focusing on actionable steps for compliance and strategic readiness. I had a privilege to give my presentation on Driving Innovation, and later take part in the panel on DEI in tech teams with my colleague Bea Schnarr. All this at #CIOCISODACHSummit in Munich today - a great event gathering tech leaders from various industries. There is a lot what #Innovation and #Inclusion have in common: 1/ They both start with ‘I’ ? everyone needs to take responsibility 2/ Look good as commitment ? not so good as the things to prioritise 3/ Require psychological safety and right culture to thrive ? otherwise diversity and creativity will have adverse impact on performance 4/ Rely on leaders to foster the culture of trust and fairness ? without the right leadership any initiatives could end in frustration I will continue to share insights from this event here, stay tuned. Diversity is DIVERSITY OF MINDS Yesterday at the #CIOCISODACHSummit I was asking a room full of almost only men with similar cultural background “How would you rate the diversity in the room?” All rated very low. Then I asked “How confident are you with this opinion?” Everybody was very confident. – I disagree! That brought us to the discussion of what is diversity? Yes, it is what you can see (gender, skin color, ethnicity, etc.), but it is also what you can’t see (experience, values, approaches, etc). Thank you Natalia Ombach ? for joining me for this panel and having a very lively discussion with the audience. My key messages: ?? ? Consider for DEI more than what you can see or what your company’s KPIs measure! ?? DEI needs to have a business case: More diverse teams develop better results for innovation, risk mitigation and value creation! ?? ?? ?? How to create a diverse team: Value all opinions (honestly!), be a role model, reflect your messages between the lines, know different cultural behaviours and actively include them in discussions, decision making. ?? As a summary: Create an ENVIRONMENT, communicate actively about values, diverse ideas, friction that comes with it, and create a space of PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY. Everything else will come by itself. Even more I liked that a broader group of people continued the discussion with us after the event while having some networking drinks. Spread the word, and make our companies a better place to work at!?
