Thank you for joining us for our talk on ?????????????????????? ???????????????? ?????????????? ????????????????????: ???????????? ?????? ???????? ???????? ??????????????????. Professor Robert Chia drew on his personal experiences to share how we should adopt a wayfinding approach towards life instead of navigating it. The latter approach presupposes that our life is a plan to be executed. A wayfinding approach, by contrast, means that we cultivate ‘predispositions’ in our actions. We will then be better able to ‘exapt’ to situations (as opposed to adapting them), creating ‘luck’. And luck is, as he cited Roman philosopher Seneca, when preparation meets opportunity. He urged us to cultivate five dispositions associated with wayfinding: 1?? ????????????????? ?????????????????? ?????????????? “?????????????? ????”. o??We need to learn how to let go and unlearn our existing frame of thought.? 2?? ??????????????????? ???? ???????? ????????????. o??He cited his earlier work in Chia and Holt (2009), Strategy without design: the silent efficacy of indirection action, where he noted a paradox in human affairs: that the more directly and deliberately a specific strategic goal is single-mindedly sought, the more likely it is that such calculated actions eventually work to undermine and erode their own initial success, often with devastating consequences. John Kay made a similar point in his book, Obliquity. 3?? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????. o??He challenged us to resist the ‘haste-of-wanting-to-know’ and be comfortable in waiting instead of rushing for certainty. 4?? ?????????????????? ???? ?????? ??????????????????????. o??He pointed out that we need to be aware of our assumptions so that we are not caught by unexpected events or ‘black swan’ events.? 5?? ??????????????????????? “?????????????? ??????????????????”/”??????????????”. o??He urged us to regain a pure child-like curiosity to see the world anew. #CDAS #CareerCoaching #Wayfinding #Careerpathways

When working with our clients, their inability to explore and navigate their future career possibilities is a source of frustration for both parties.
