North Dakota is the clear leader with actively injecting projects. ?? The lower left plot shows the permitted injection rates where we see a sharp uptick since June 2023. ?? The lower right section shows upcoming and recently finalized public hearings.     ?? Our live #CCUS Class VI dashboard shows a clear change in slope in the number of submitted Class VI well applications since the middle of 2024. ?? There is a steepening of applications received before August 2024, and a clear slowdown since then. ?? The inflection could reflect caution in the market due to the US election, but the change occurred months before the election results were known. ? Class VI applications take months or even years to prepare, so we welcome other possible insights about the reasons. Stage gate or budget deadlines? Let us know what you think about this trend!

    ?? Analyzing Changes in EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) Data: 2022 vs 2023 ?? We've been hard at work comparing the latest 2023 EPA GHGRP data with the previous year's dataset. Our analysis reveals some intriguing insights about discontinued emitters (excluding power plants): ?? 287 facilities have discontinued reporting since 2022. ?? These discontinued emitters accounted for a total of 16.9 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions. ?? On average, each discontinued emitter was responsible for 58.79 thousand metric tons of CO2e. ?? The largest discontinued emitter reported 692.8 thousand metric tons of CO2e in 2022. ??? The Petroleum and Natural Gas sector saw the highest number of discontinued reporters. ?? Digging deeper into the data: ? 232 facilities emitting less than 100 thousand metric tons of CO2e accounted for 5.8 million metric tons. ? 55 larger facilities (≥100 thousand metric tons CO2e) contributed 11.0 million metric tons. This breakdown shows that 34% of the discontinued emissions came from smaller emitters, while 65% of the change came from larger facilities. It's crucial to note that "discontinued reporting" doesn't necessarily mean facility closure – it could also indicate emissions dropping below reporting thresholds or reporting as part of a new facility.     ??? ??????: ??? The EPA Releases 2023 Emissions Dataset ?? The EPA Flight dataset has just been updated! Check it out here:: https://lnkd.in/eJDNRHc3 ?? You can easily generate an initial overview by selecting the data year and clicking "Apply Search" in the Flight tool. Emissions have decreased slightly from 2,697 MMt/yr to 2,578 MMt/yr, marking a 4.4% annual reduction. ?? The Screenshot below shows the the result when we filter for "poet" with the ethanol layer enabled. ?? The other two filters are for the biogenic and acid gas removal CO2 emissions. New Class VI Application: Tallgrass High Plains Carbon Storage ??????????????????: Tallgrass Energy, L.P. ????????????????: Kimball County, Nebraska ???????????? ???? ??????????: 1 We already located part of the Carbon Sequestration Easement in Kimball County. The project is part of the Trailblazer pipeline conversion and seems to be a second sequestration site linked to that pipeline project next to the Eastern Wyoming Sequestration Hub. ??     ???? We are adding more subsurface data: The Formations and an image of the stratigraphic column at the locations of our Class VI #CCS projects. ?? ?? Below is a linked stratigraphic column that shows the injection formation and confining formations. ?? If we can find it, we will link the Strat Column images and target formations directly to the Class VI projects. So the high level overview is only one click away. The example below is for the Summit Carbon Storage project.
