We honor the Thompson family, whose transformative gift made this 64,000-square-foot facility possible. Adam Mathews '05, an English Literature graduate, returned to Chanticleer country to pursue a new business venture by acquiring a local dry cleaning business. Reflecting on his time at CCU, Adam credits the University with teaching him to focus on what's important and approach challenges from diverse perspectives. His advice to fellow alumni and current students? "Work hard so you can play hard. Be open, coachable, and focused to excel in any endeavor." After four incredible years, President Michael T. Benson will step down at the end of this academic year to become the 27th president of West Virginia University, starting July 15, 2025. Under his leadership, Coastal Carolina University saw record growth and achievements in enrollment and retention, as well as enhanced campus facilities and expanded academic programs.
