???Rising Stars Award??? The Rising Star Award honors 18 students each year from Astronaut, Space Coast Jr./Sr., and Titusville High schools. It recognizes students with a 2.4-3.4 GPA who excel in community service and hard work. Thanks to sponsors like Community Credit Union of Florida, JESS PARRISH MEDICAL FOUNDATION INC, and Geico Local, the award has grown to $1,500. At the end of the year, students complete an essay to determine the ultimate Rising Star. Congratulations to our standout students: Avalon Lamb – Astronaut High Active in student government, cheer captain, varsity athlete, and passionate about the arts. Avalon plans to pursue a bachelor's in communication sciences and disorders at University of Florida or University of Central Florida and become a speech pathologist specializing in special education. Hayden LaMaster – Space Coast Jr./Sr. High Leader in student government, varsity soccer captain, and dedicated volunteer. Hayden aims to study computer science at a top university and specialize in a focused field within the industry. David Smith – Titusville High Robotics team captain, musician, and varsity swimmer. David plans to pursue aerospace engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and intern at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, with a career goal at Kennedy Space Center. Victoria Hillery – Titusville High Student government leader, community advocate, and dedicated volunteer. Victoria plans to study political science and public policy at Florida Atlantic University, with aspirations to work in community organization and seek public office in the City of Titusville. Lesli has been an integral part of CCU Florida for 28 years, starting her career in our call center in 1997 and growing through roles in lending, training, and leadership. Today, as Chief Operations Officer, she continues to drive positive change. Her advice? “Don’t be afraid to raise your hand or take on new challenges because it will provide valuable experience and may open the doors for new opportunities.” ?

When asked about her work experience, Heather answered “I began my career in the credit union industry as a teller, and over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles, which has led me to my current position. I am committed to always making decisions that prioritize the best interests of both our members and our team. The credit union world is where I’ve grown professionally, and it has been instrumental in shaping me into the leader I am today. I am truly grateful for the countless opportunities I’ve had to learn, grow, and contribute throughout my journey.” Heather takes great joy in helping others learn, grow, and thrive, whether it’s members, colleagues, or the community.
