Are you interested in improving your team’s processes to make collaborative science more effective and efficient? MICHR (Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research) is actively recruiting for a #NIH funded study: Information Management Prototype for Clinical and Translational Research (IMPACT-CTR). This study will evaluate tools and strategies teams use to conduct collaborative translational research. Findings will be used to develop a learning module to help teams improve their approach to information management. Under NCATS’ leadership, the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program supports a national network of medical research institutions — called Hubs ― that work together to improve the translational research process to get more treatments to more patients more quickly. The Hubs collaborate locally and regionally to catalyze innovation in training, research tools, and processes. CTSA Program support enables research teams including scientists, patient advocacy organizations, and community members to tackle system-wide scientific and operational problems in clinical and translational research that no one team can overcome. To learn more about the CTSA Program goals, head to https://ncats.nih.gov/ctsa/about and check out https://ncats.nih.gov/ctsa/funding to learn about the mechanisms to achieve these goals. This page is run by the CTSA Coordination, Communication, and Operations Support (CCOS) Center. Posts and engagements do not necessarily represent the views of NCATS, NIH.

A packed 2024 Fall @NCATS #CTSA meeting has been engaging, enlightening, and inspiring! It was great to see so many colleagues talk about how they are impacting health of people within their communities and across the nation. Topics of primary care PBRNs, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)/CTSA collaborations, health equity, translational research and translational science, and where and how AI and LLMs fit. Congrats to all teams involved, and eapecially #RuthO’Hara, #NCATS_DCI, and CTSA CCOS Center.

Enhancing research innovation and impacting health equity in Northeast Ohio and beyond #CTSAProgram @nih-ncats
Great discussion this morning with other CTSA Hubs at the CTSA Fall Meeting regarding the difference between Translational Research and Translational Science. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) at NIH defines: ‘Translation’ as the process of turning observations in the laboratory, clinic and community into interventions that improve the health of individuals and communities – from diagnostics, preventions, and treatments to medical procedures and behavioral changes. ‘Translational research’?as the endeavor to traverse a particular step of the translational process for a particular target or disease. ‘Translational science’?(TS) is the field of investigation focused on understanding the scientific and operational principles underlying each step of the translational process. While translational research targets specific diseases or conditions, translational science takes a broader approach, addressing the scientific and operational challenges that are common across many, if not all, diseases. These shared obstacles slow down and hinder the development of effective new treatments. The CTSC is committed to helping researchers with clinical and translational science understanding through innovative collaboration, funding, and training opportunities. The #CTSAProgram is shifting its focus from "translational research" to "translational science," but what is the difference? ? Recreational baker and UR CTSI Director of Research Education Alfred Vitale, Ph.D., has a helpful pie-based analogy to clear things up--and it might come in handy as you prepare for holiday meals, too! ? After tuning into this morning's #2024FallCTSAMtg session on the topic, check out our video and share it with your translational science and baker friends! #URochesterResearch CTSA CCOS Center & National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS)
