Listening to our communities and developing opportunities and solutions is crucial to the growth and quality of life in our region. CCEDC is proud to partner with the Seven Chambers to draw attention to and address this issue, keeping Chester County a wonderful place to live, work, and thrive.
Seven Chambers and the CCEDC have come together to address the Unique Business of Housing in Chester County. From tech to the hospitality sectors, Chambers of Commerce across the county have heard from their member employers that they cannot fill positions. Lack of housing options for median-wage workers prevents business from attracting talent because there is no place for that talent to live. Workforce shortages drive up the cost of labor, which means rising prices and inflation. Consider this piece a pledge on behalf of the Chambers and Economic Development Council to do our part to make sure the business community is at the table to develop creative solutions to address this very real threat to our vibrant community. We are calling on every stakeholder involved to embrace smart growth policies that protect the County’s core values, while also welcoming new residents who can share in the unique qualities that make our neighborhoods so special. Affordable housing is key to ensuring that Chester County remains a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to live, work, and thrive. Did you know that Hispanic entrepreneurship is growing at an all-time rate? Especially in Pennsylvania, where Hispanic business ownership has seen a 50% increase between 2012 and 2019. The Small Business Administration also nearly doubled its lending in the last 3 years, allocating resources that allow these small businesses to provide employment and boost local economies as well. #hispanicheritagemonth
