Shout-out to Oscar Montanez for his inspiring journey of growth and purpose! As a key member of our technical team, Oscar is driving change in the manufacturing industry and empowering the next generation of innovators—just as he inspires all of us here at CCAT ? #manufacturing #innovation #3Dprinting #TechTuesday
Oscar Montanez enrolled at CT State Tunxis in 2021 after working in the luxury retail space. He changed paths because, as he says, “I wanted to actually make something, make a difference.” He is making that difference now at Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) working with Ron Angelo and the great team at CCAT. Montanez received his #manufacturing certification from CT State Tunxis in 2022. He attributes his success to the incredible #faculty and #staff who helped him develop the skills needed to succeed. “The way Connecticut State Community College structured the curriculum was fantastic. It gave me the ability to sample different aspects of a manufacturing career,” said Montanez. “All of the instructors who were involved with the Additive Manufacturing Certification Program were amazing. They really cared about their students. They weren’t just there to do a job; they had a mission.” He credits Christopher Foster for connecting him with CCAT because of his interest in 3D-printing. After interning at CCAT for three months, CCAT offered Montanez a full-time job – and he has been there ever since as the Additive Adoption lead, where he helps small- to medium-sized manufacturers across Connecticut understand the benefits of additive manufacturing and 3D-printing. Just another incredible example of how Connecticut State Colleges & Universities come from Connecticut, are educated and trained in Connecticut, and stay to live and work in Connecticut to help industry and drive the economy while making the lives of our students better! #manufacturing #Highereducation #Highereducationleadership #Connecticut
