Dr. Sara Thorndike serves the CBICC Board of Directors and Executive Committee as Secretary, bringing a wealth of expertise in finance, business strategy, and organizational leadership. As Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Penn State University, Sara oversees strategic planning and management for a wide range of university operations, including finance, budgeting, auxiliary services, physical plant, real estate, sustainability, IT, and public safety. She also serves on the Penn State Health Board and President’s Council, playing a pivotal role in advancing the university’s mission. With more than 19 years of leadership in higher education, including previous CFO roles at East Carolina University and UNC Wilmington, Sara is experienced in financial management and organizational excellence. A Certified Public Accountant, she also has experience in nonprofit healthcare and corporate finance. We are excited to have Sara’s leadership and strategic insight guiding the CBICC’s Board of Directors.
