关于我们
The Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas (CBCST) was founded on May 20, 1997 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Recognizing the permanent impact loss can have on young people, the CBCST was established to help children and families, from every social and economic circumstance, who are grieving the death of a loved one. In a culture that does not talk about grief and bereavement, and in a world that doesn’t “get it,” we do. Our Mission: To foster healing for grieving youth, their families and the community through peer support programs, counseling, training, education and outreach. Program Format / Activities: The CBCST incorporates a comprehensive group support process to assist children, teens, young adults and their families with the resolution of grief issues. These groups are open-ended, meet twice a month and are offered free-of-charge to our clients. Children who attend our programs engage in therapeutic activities that incorporate art, writing, music and movement, dance and dramatic play to help process feelings of grief. Our programs help grieving children develop healthy coping skills while restoring a sense of normalcy with surviving family members.

May 24th marked two years since the heartbreaking tragedy at Robb Elementary in Uvalde. We gathered as a community, strong and united, to honor the precious lives we lost. In a beautiful ceremony of remembrance, we released butterflies, each one a symbol of hope, transformation, and the enduring spirit of our loved ones. The Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas stands as a beacon of support, helping our community heal and find solace. Together, we continue to build a future where love, compassion, and unity shine brighter than ever. To all those affected, we are here with you! We remember. We heal. Remembering the 21 lives lost at Robb Elementary, today marks two years since their passing, still weighing heavily on our hearts. In our sorrow, we find comfort in honoring their lively spirits and valuing the wonderful lives they lived.
