The School of Business Alumni Network Affiliate (SBANA) is the official alumni organization for the Clark Atlanta University School of Business Administration. We were founded in 2016 and chartered by the Clark Atlanta University Alumni Association, Inc on October 14, 2016. SBANA exists to connect alumni of the School of Business with the University. Create networking opportunities that support career development. Recruit qualified undergraduate and MBA students and fundraise to support current and future students of CAU.

???Celebrating 141 Years of Business Education: The Enterprising Postmaster??? In 1883, Clark University (later Clark College) established one of the nation’s first Business Colleges, laying the foundation for today’s Clark Atlanta University School of Business. One of its early graduates, Luther J. Price (CU ’84), embodied our legacy of?Enterprising Ingenuity.?A former slave and entrepreneur, he became South Atlanta’s first federally appointed postmaster, operating a General Store that also served as the local post office.?He remained in business for over 50 years.? During the 1906 Atlanta Race Riots, Price narrowly escaped violent mobs targeting his store amid rumors he supplied ammunition for self-defense. Price and his wife, Minnie Wright Price, were respected in the community and encouraged voting. Their resilience exemplifies CAUSB’s tradition of thriving in adversity.? Celebrating 141 Years of Business Education: A Legacy of Building Community and Transforming Business ?? In 1877,?Clark University—a founding institution?of?Clark Atlanta University?and its?Clark Atlanta University School of Business — acquired a 450-acre property in South Atlanta, thanks to the support of methodist benefactor Bishop Gilbert Haven. This new campus began the next chapter in the institution's ambitious journey, where it awarded its first degree in 1880 and established its Business College in 1883—one of the earliest business?schools in the nation, and the first dedicated to educating African Americans in business. Beyond academics, Clark sought to impact the broader community by founding the?South Atlanta Land Improvement Company?in 1877, which sparked economic growth in the surrounding campus area. This initiative gave rise to?Brownsville, a dynamic community just south of Downtown Atlanta that emerged as an early hub of Black entrepreneurship. It attracted a thriving mix of Black-owned businesses, religious leaders, educators, artists, and aspiring professionals, symbolizing African American innovation, enterprise and excellence. Though Clark eventually relocated to its current site in the?Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc. ?in the 1940s, its historic Leete Hall remains a testament to its legacy, and is now the home of Atlanta Public Schools’?Carver High School?STEAM Academy and Early College programs. This October, Dean Dr. Silvanus J. Udoka and the faculty and staff proudly celebrate 141 years of CAUSB’s undergraduate origins and reflect on the transformative milestones that shaped our tradition of?Changing the Global Face, Shape, and Future of Business. OCTOBER 4, 1883 141 years ago this month, one of the first Business Colleges in the nation was launched... It was second only to the Wharton School, which opened in 1881, for being among the earliest in business education. Yet, in educating a newly freed people, it was without equal. 63 years later, its sister institution established the world’s first Graduate School of Business at a predominantly African American institution in 1946—once again breaking new ground. 43 years after that, these two pioneering business programs became one in 1989, continuing a shared legacy that has empowered generations of students to rise as educators, entrepreneurs, professionals, and executives, transforming communities and industries. Through dedication, resilience, and Enterprising Ingenuity, this legacy endures today… Happy Birthday to the CAU School of Business at Clark Atlanta University and its early beginnings of undergraduate business education. Last week, I had to pleasure to finish my Corporate Procurement Internship at Caterpillar Inc. located in Peoria, IL. This summer was full of growth, learning, and great adventures. Throughout this experience, I had the opportunity work in the Energy and Transportation division, which expanded my knowledge on procurement and have taught me a lot. Every week I learned new skills, gained new connections, and traveled to a few Caterpillar Facilities, where we learned A LOT of history about the business and how it came to be a big success. Traveling to the facilities was one of my best memories about this summer because we got to see first hand how the business is ran and also got to witness many great services that each facility had to offer. This internship experience let me use the knowledge that I have gained from Clark Atlanta University School of Business and apply them to a Corporate setting. The knowledge in which I learned this summer will help me in my future career. I want to thank Melissa Comer for giving me this amazing opportunity and supporting me in every way possible. I want to thank Monica N. Smith Wallace for introducing me to Caterpillar and being there for me every step of the way. I want to say thank you to the GREAT Tom Franken for being a great supervisor and mentor. You have taught me so much about the business and guided me to success. Thank you Maria Kreier for giving me great insight about Caterpillar and helping me as well. I have also gained new mentors and friends that made this experience fun and unforgettable. I want to say thank you to Jerry L. Johnson, Domenic Albert, Cole Stevens, Dontae Newell, MBA, Carter Tome, Phil Peters, and Lloyd Timerman. Also want to thank you to all of the VP's, leaders, my coworkers, and fellow interns. You all made this summer great and was very welcoming and helpful. And with that being said..... I am excited to announce that I have found me a new family!! I will be accepting a Full Time position with Caterpillar and will be apart of their 2025 LTDP cohort!
